Diabetes Awareness Month

4 main types of diabetes:

  • Type 1 Diabetes – A chronic condition in which your body makes little or no insulin.
  • Type 2 Diabetes – The most common type, where your body doesn’t use insulin well and can’t keep blood sugar at normal levels.
  • Gestational Diabetes – Diabetes that develops during pregnancy.
  • Prediabetes – Your blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes.

Most people with prediabetes have no symptoms

The A1C test used to diagnose prediabetes (2–3 months of average).

  • A1C of 7% to 6.4% indicates prediabetes.
