Balance by CCHP (Balance), a local health plan with 40 years of experience, announced today that Costco Pharmacy is now a preferred pharmacy for members enrolled in its Commercial plans, including Individual & Family, Employer Group, and Covered California plans.
As a preferred pharmacy, Costco Pharmacy allows eligible members to fill a 90-day (three-month) supply of medications for the cost of two monthly copays, helping to reduce out-of-pocket costs and minimize pharmacy visits, especially for members managing ongoing or chronic conditions.
Costco Pharmacy has long been part of Balance’s pharmacy network. By designating Costco Pharmacy as a preferred option, Balance is expanding convenient, cost-effective access to prescription medications—particularly as recent closures of some large pharmacy chains, including Walgreens and CVS, have limited access for some members.
Importantly, Costco membership is not required. All Balance members may access pharmacy services at Costco locations without a Costco membership.
“As a local health plan, our priority is making care more accessible and affordable for our members and the communities we serve,” said Larry Loo, CEO of CCHP. “Adding Costco Pharmacy as a preferred option gives our members greater flexibility and more ways to save on prescriptions, including members enrolled in CCHP’s Medicare plans, who also receive the same preferred pharmacy benefits at Costco Pharmacy.”
Balance is a full-service health plan built specifically for the Bay Area, offering affordable, high-quality coverage in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Alameda counties through a trusted network of local health care providers and an integrated approach that blends Eastern and Western care.
Members also benefit from in-person member services and access to free preventive screenings, acupuncture services, health education programs, and fitness classes, supporting overall health and well-being.
