Welcome Dr. Pretzlaff!
Chinese Hospital and Chinese Community Health Plan (CCHP) are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Robert Pretzlaff as Chief Medical Officer. A seasoned physician executive, Dr. Pretzlaff brings more than 30 years of clinical and healthcare leadership experience, including over a decade serving in Chief Medical Officer and senior executive roles.
Dr. Pretzlaff most recently served as Chief Medical Officer at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Los Angeles and Lodi Memorial Hospital in Northern California. Prior to that, he was Chief Physician Executive for Dignity Health in Nevada, where he led clinical strategy and operations across three hospitals in the Las Vegas region, as well as a multispecialty medical group and population health initiatives.
Dr. Pretzlaff earned his undergraduate degree in Philosophy from Michigan State University and his Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University. He completed training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care, later serving as Chief of Critical Care Medicine at UC Davis Children’s Hospital. He also holds an MBA from California State University, Sacramento.
Throughout his career, Dr. Pretzlaff has remained committed to advancing high-quality, accessible, and affordable care. “Access to quality, affordable healthcare should not be a challenge for patients. It should be an expectation,” asserts Dr. Pretzlaff.

Established in 1986, Chinese Community Health Plan was created to expand access to affordable health coverage, particularly for small businesses and underserved communities.
